Sunday

(Jesus speaking) “I have never called you ‘servants,’ because a master doesn’t confide in his servants, and servants don’t always understand what the master is doing. But I call you my most intimate friends, for I reveal to you everything that I’ve heard from my Father. (John 15:15)

Jesus’s idea of intimate friendship totally overshadows everything and anything we could ever assume. For example, he willingly gave up his life for his friends …

Lord Jesus, I’ve tasted your Presence during worship and I’ve heard your Spirit in my answered prayers, please help me not to just come to you for ‘things,’ but as my friend. Amen. X

Jesus said, “…Take it from me: Unless a person is born from above, it’s not possible to see what I’m pointing to—to God’s kingdom.” “How can anyone,” said Nicodemus, “be born who has already been born and grown up? You can’t re-enter your mother’s womb and be born again. What are you saying with this ‘born-from-above’ talk?” Jesus said, “You’re not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the ‘wind-hovering-over-the-water’ creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it’s not possible to enter God’s kingdom. When you look at a baby, it’s just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can’t see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit.

“So don’t be so surprised when I tell you that you have to be ‘born from above’—out of this world, so to speak. You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it’s headed next. That’s the way it is with everyone ‘born from above’ by the wind of God, the Spirit of God.” (John 3:3)

It’s a prerequisite that we can’t avoid to keep. X

Monday – 17/7/17

Cry for help and you’ll find it’s grace and more grace. The moment he hears, he’ll answer.

Just as the Master kept you alive during the hard times, he’ll keep your teacher alive and present among you. Your teacher will be right there, local and on the job, urging you on whenever you wander left or right: “This is the right road. Walk down this road.” (Isaiah‬ ‭30:19)

… So if you find life difficult because you’re doing what God said, take it in stride. Trust him. He knows what he’s doing, and he’ll keep on doing it. (1 Peter‬ ‭4:19‬)

Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner. (1 Peter‬ ‭4:17‬). X

Friday – 21/4/17

Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simply say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus, the Messiah! (‭Rom ‭5:11)

Someone said recently that if you remove the Holy Spirit from Church then all your left with is Religion …!

Precious Holy Spirit, please help us not to ignore your gentle leading. We’re sick of our ‘good ideas’ going nowhere. Help us to humble ourselves and receive Your ‘God ideas!’ X

Wednesday – 21/12/16

And she gave birth to her Son, her Firstborn; and she wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room or place for them in the inn. (Luke‬ ‭2:7‬)

My friend Steve Butters posted this from his Church St Mary’s Reigate:
“Each of us is an Innkeeper who decides if there is enough room for Jesus.”

Timely reminder huh? We can decide to give him a room. Maybe a whole floor. Even the whole house…. The thing is, all this is good (but) He doesn’t want to live there ‘alone!’

He came for a restoration. Restoring all back to what was lost at Eden…

… Relationship! X

Tuesday – 12/7/16

GOD said, “It’s not good for the Man to be alone…” (Gen 2:18)

To me friendship is a lot like food – we need it to survive and we seem to have a basic drive for it. We human beings have a fundamental need for inclusion We are truly social animals.

Bottom line, we function best when this social need is met. It is easier to stay motivated and to meet the varied challenges of life.

Our Father GOD knew this. He didn’t just hard-wire this need into us outside of His Perfect Plan and Covenant. And so He promises us: “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” so we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me? (Heb 13:5)

Thank You Father for keeping me with You no matter what … X

Saturday – 13/2/16

Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it. I hope the test won’t show that we have failed. But if it comes to that, we’d rather the test showed our failure than yours. We’re rooting for the truth to win out in you. We couldn’t possibly do otherwise. We don’t just put up with our limitations; we celebrate them, and then go on to celebrate every strength, every triumph of the truth in you… (2 Cor‬ ‭13:5)

This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God. (1 John‬ ‭4:13)

Intimacy is just real friendship. Be a friend of God, He’s already a friend with you. X
