Don’t act like those bullies or learn their ways. Every violent thug is despised by the Lord, but every tender lover finds friendship with God and will hear his intimate secrets.

The wicked walk under God’s constant curse, but godly lovers walk under a stream of his blessing, for they seek to do what is right. If you walk with the mockers you will learn to mock, but God’s grace and favour flow to the meek. (Prov 3:31)

I remember watching a young guy with Downs syndrome wanting approval from a gang. Basically all the gang members just used this young guy for their entertainment in the most horrible of ways.

That’s just how we can be in this world if we don’t realise who we ARE in Christ!

Lord open my eyes to see just how much You approve of me and that I don’t need to seek affirmation from any other source. X

Train me, GOD, to walk straight; then I’ll follow your true path. Put me together, one heart and mind; then, undivided, I’ll worship in joyful fear. From the bottom of my heart I thank you, dear Lord; I’ve never kept secret what you’re up to. You’ve always been great toward me—what love! You snatched me from the brink of disaster! God, these bullies have reared their heads! A gang of thugs is after me— and they don’t care a thing about you. But you, O God, are both tender and kind, not easily angered, immense in love, and you never, never quit. So look me in the eye and show kindness, give your servant the strength to go on, save your dear, dear child! Make a show of how much you love me so the bullies who hate me will stand there slack-jawed, As you, GOD, gently and powerfully put me back on my feet. (Psalm‬ ‭86:8)

Who are these bullies, these thugs? Well the ones ‘constantly’ on my back are: pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth. So … how do I get away from them???

(Jesus speaking) “… Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Mat 11:28). X

This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. (1 John‬ ‭4:10)

I remember hearing a girls testimony where she said she was being heavily coerced into going off with some of her friends to some event. She turned down many of their pushy pleas and finally one of her friends said mockingly: “are you afraid that your Dad might hurt you…?” To which the girl replied: “No – I’m afraid that I might hurt him!”

It made me think: does what I do really upset Him? Does God have feelings? Does He care?

Yes!!!!! He IS Love and He Loves us – so of course!

Ask Him to show you – today. X

Wednesday – 4/11/15

That’s why he (Jesus) had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed. (Heb 2:16)

So … He’s already experienced all my ‘natural’ defence systems? My loud voice and waving arms? My sarcastic jibes? My cold stare? My awful bullying sulks and my pushing everyone away – especially when what I really need is help from them …?

Lord, the next time life hits the fan then please help me to ‘disarm myself’ and instead of reacting ‘naturally’ to just come to You and be able to ask for what I should do …!

Amen! X

Bullying: to use strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weaker.
Sometimes the bullies are physical, sometimes mental and sometimes spiritual. Jesus Christ IS Lord of ALL! He alone has the Power to defeat ALL our intimidators.
